Our Donation Needs
The Fitness in Recovery program began in late 2015 at Cadence Fitness in Narberth, PA when John Breen was looking for a way to use his background in sports physiology to serve the sober community. The program grew, and in March 2018 we added a second location to accommodate the number of people wanting to participate. We then began scheduling workouts at LPE Fitness in Bryn Mawr, PA.
Over the last the three years, we’ve gone from one class a week in Narberth, Pennsylvania to over 36 classes each month in three different locations, and more and more people come to the workouts each week. Because of the increasing demand, we have reached capacity limits and are no longer able to expand the number of workouts offered at our current locations.
What’s next for Fitness In Recovery?
Over the next 6-12 months, our goal is to double the number of workouts we offer each week and to find a home base for Fitness in Recovery. Ideally, we would like this home base to be a building on the Main Line that has space for a workout studio, rooms for 12-step meetings, and a café or lounge area to allow for fellowship. Our goal is to also keep Fitness in Recovery free to participants, so we need your help.
With these plans ahead of us, we are looking for your help in our expansion. Once we are able to secure our headquarters, the program will operate and self fund nearly 70% of operating costs. If you have any additional questions about donating, please feel free to email us at donate@fitnessinrecovery.org
We want to thank you for your consideration in helping us.
